What It Does
Group Rally artifacts into columns by any field: schedule state, iteration, owner, custom field, anything queryable through WSAPI. Drag cards between columns to update the underlying record. Group again into swim lanes for two-axis views like state by team or iteration by feature.
Cards themselves are configurable. The Rally Card layout that ships with CardBoard handles formatted IDs, names, owners, schedule state, and custom fields automatically. Replace it with your own component if you need something different.
Why It Matters for Migration
CardBoard is the React replacement for Rally.ui.cardboard.CardBoard, one of the most widely-used and most painfully customized components in the App SDK. The migration tool detects cardboard configurations in your legacy code and maps them directly onto CardBoard props. Card field lists, drag policies, and group-by configurations all survive.
The Card Layout
The default card renderer is built into CardBoard, not a separate component. It's a feature of CardBoard, configured through props. If you need a fully custom card, you pass your own component and CardBoard wires up the drag handlers and selection state.
